Truly Thai Experience
Though Buddhist concept which regards death as truth of nature is comprehensible, grasping and clinging, the source where suffering or dukkha arises from, cannot be easily eradicated. Great loss of beloved one always causes great grief. This performance is the reflection of an ordinary man who strives to reach the religious enlightenment, but great loss inevitably occurs on the pathway while he is not yet free from “grasping” and “clinging”. He thus looks at death in other way, beautifully and magnificently, different from religion’s metaphysical concept which death is merely current of natural change, and absolutely opposite from myth and legend which death is merciless and frightful. He imagined death as a kind-hearted god who relieved and cured those who suffered from pain and illness. Death is a god who ride on heavenly exquisite chariot to take our beloved one to eternal happiness and he will warmheartedly take good care of our beloved one through the journey.
The world renowned Department of Performing Arts, Bangkok University, the creator of highly acclaimed production of “Dancing to Nirvana”, performed in Praque, Bangkok and Singapore last year, proudly presents an innovative work of art which is the collaboration of drama, music and dance which expressively accentuate the spirit of the East.
